Against a backdrop of profound transformation in the labour market, the IPD Foundation is taking a decisive step towards the future with the launch of the “From Classroom to Workplace” competition, an initiative that aims to turn training into real opportunities for employment for people with intellectual disabilities.

Since its creation in 2022, the IPD Foundation has worked with a clear purpose: to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities through education, inclusion and personal development.

We firmly believe that we face a challenge of great significance: integrating these individuals into the labour market at a time when it is undergoing profound transformation due to the emergence of Artificial Intelligence.

We are certain that AI offers great opportunities for inclusion, but also risks of exclusion if we do not prepare them adequately for it. It is well known that many of the roles that have traditionally provided a pathway into the labour market for people with intellectual disabilities – often focused on repetitive or administrative support tasks – will gradually disappear.

It is therefore essential that we anticipate these changes, identify new employment opportunities and provide the appropriate training to enable them to access these roles.

Through this competition, we aim to support and promote innovative educational projects that train people with intellectual disabilities for this new employment landscape, thereby preparing them for the various opportunities the labour market will offer.

The competition is open to foundations, universities or organisations based in Spain that offer an educational programme for people with intellectual disabilities, due to start in the 2026 or 2027 academic year.

The programme must be aimed at young people with intellectual disabilities with a degree of disability of 33% or more who are over 18 years of age. The programme must have a duration of at least two years

Three projects will be awarded prizes:

1st Prize: €10,000

2nd Prize: €7,000

3rd Prize: €3,000

The jury will select as winners those innovative educational projects aimed at preparing people with intellectual disabilities for new opportunities identified in the labour market, particularly in the context of changes arising from technological transformation.

Applications may be submitted between 15 April and 15 July, and

Educational projects must be sent by email to the following address:

info@fundacionipd.com

The following information must be included:

  • Name of the programme
  • Name of the organisation
  • Location
  • Contact details: telephone numbers and email addresses
  • Organisation’s website
  • Number of places available
  • Programme duration
  • Timetable
  • Opportunity: what new opportunities for entering the labour market have been identified
  • Project content: this section should detail the content to be taught throughout the course.

Link to the labour market: list public or private companies where these jobs will be in demand.

The selected projects will be announced in September via the Foundation’s website.
